Gift Cards Galore

Okay, so I am a complete embarrassment to my sex. I am a terrible shopper. I don't really love shopping, and when I do shop, I like to go in, get what I want and come right back out. I'm not a browser. Therefore, I guiltily have several unused gift cards. And by several, I mean about $850 worth. *Yikes*
Some of them go as far back as our wedding. I'm so ashamed.
I always talk myself out of spending the money on gift cards. I always think I can get a better deal and I want to wait for the sales or I know exactly what I want to buy so I have to wait until it comes to that specific store, etc. I'm very good at talking myself out of spending free money. Go figure.
Anyway, I have decided that February is going to be THE month to get rid of these things. I intend to spend every single one. I'll let you know how it goes.

Once There Was A Snowman

His name is Horace. And he's awesome. And can I just say that making a snowman is not as easy as I remember? We got quite the workout.

Also, some deer are living in our backyard. I think they may eat Horace's nose.

Breakfast for Dinner

Mmmmm.....Buttery, waffle-y, syrupy goodness. I love waffles for dinner. I remember having breakfast for dinner as a kid and thinking it was the coolest thing in the world because it was so backwards.

And it's even better with 100% pure maple syrup from my great-uncle's sugarhouse in Vermont. I could (and have!) eat that stuff by the spoonful. We eat it on waffles, pancakes, scones, make candy, snow (sugar on snow is a delicious treat, I suggest you try it!) and would even eat it on spaghetti (a la Elf).

So now that I've finished my ode to Maple Syrup, can I just say how proud I am that I married a handy-man?
I was trying to do a good deed by shoveling our driveway after it snowed. However, I, being the scatterbrain that I am, set the snow shovel against the inside of the garage door and forgetting it was there, tried to shut it. This succeeded in not only knocking the bottom right side of the garage off the track, but bending the (steel) track which caused the cables that support the full weight of the door to unwind off the pulley-thingys (don't know the technical term). Anyway, it was a mess, and made a horrifying screeching sound as well as a sort of clunking that made it sound like the entire house was going to implode. I'm having panic attacks, thinking we are going to have to pay hundreds of dollars to have it fixed, that it is going to set us back months on our savings, that we won't be able to get our cars out of the garage to go to work and make the money to fix it...needless to say my voice had pretty much reached sonic proportions, and Brett could barely understand me. But...
Brett fixed it. I'm so proud. And very relieved that I have someone that can set things right after Hurricane Karin comes through.

P.S. Come on Scott Brown!

*eh *eh *eh....I think I've got the black lung, pops...

So, I've been sick for like 2 weeks, and I think it has something to do with this.

It's really disgusting out there! Can we please get some wind and snow to clear out this air? Not to mention, it would be great to get a few inches for the slopes on Saturday *wink *wink.

Brett and I started p90x the last week of December. It is not getting easier. I can't even breathe when I do the workouts and I've been perpetually sore. I'm blaming this on the inversion as well, not on my being out of shape :)

I'm also having writer's block. Want to know why I never update? I can't think. Someone please give me some inspiration.

Skiing

Can I just say how much I love skiing? I just love getting up in the clean air and racing down the mountain. I love when my legs hurt so bad I don't think I can go down one more time...but I always do. And I love coming home after a long day of skiing and curling up with Brett, a blanket, and a cup of hot chocolate. Mmmmm...

Best of 2009

2009 was an awesome year. Here are some of the highlights:

1) Got a new baby sister!

2) Had an amazing trip to London & Scotland!

3) Celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary with a stay-cation at the Grand America!

4) Michael & Bryttan got engaged!!

5) Replaced the Corolla with Russell.

6) Achieved financial peace..FREEDOM!!

and...

5) Moved AGAIN!

There are so many things that we are grateful for and have been so blessed this year. There are so many things I could list, but these are the highlights. I can't believe that another year is gone! This year there a lot of things that we want to accomplish. Hopefully Brett will get into grad school, I want to learn how to sew, and we want to take every opportunity to get out and have fun and not take life for granted. 2010 should be a great year!!
