It seems so crazy to me that a year ago we didn't even know we were having a girl. We didn't have a name, or any idea what she would look like. But now she is here and I feel that of course this is what she should look like. Of course her name should be Adelyn. Of course her little personality just fits her perfectly.
She is now a whopping 13 1/2 pounds (according to our bathroom scale, which may not be very accurate) and 26" or 27" long. She was kind of kicky when I was trying to measure.
She is getting pretty good at sitting up if we balance her, but she topples over pretty easily. She had her first official solid food, and loved it. I can tell she is going to be excited when we start solids officially at the end of this month.
Adelyn's personality is really starting to shine. She has recently become ticklish, which is adorable. I can tell when she is bored, or hungry, or tired...she seems to cycle through those three emotions pretty often. She loves going outside on walks, eating her hands (or anything she can get her hands ON), taking baths, and reading books. She always gets instantly quiet when we pull a book out and tries to turn the pages, which is cute. Hopefully we will have a little reader!
We are taking our first big vacation next month. We are going to Hawaii and it should be quite an experience with a baby. Any tips on flying with an infant would be much appreciated :)
She is growing up too fast!
P.S. Blogger is acting up and I'm having trouble posting the pictures, so sorry it looks a little weird.
I LOVE the pics. She is so dang cute. Flying with a baby.... tips.... decongestant for two days before flying and day of so her ears don't bother her. Bottle or binky to suck on during take off and landing (again for the ears).
ReplyDeleteIgnore the dirty looks that people give you because you have a baby.
You will LOVE Hawaii. It is paradise. You won't want to come home. I guarantee. ;-)
Hmm, tips for flying with a baby? If you have a baby carrier I highly recommend using it. Sometimes the flight attendants get picky about whether you can use it during take off and landing, but it makes it much easier to hold your child for the whole flight if you can just strap them on. Nursing really helps with getting their ears adjusted to the elevation. Personally I don't feel bad about giving a dose of benadryl for the flight, I feel worse making them miserable by being confined for a long time than making them artificially sleepy. Anything you can bring along as a distraction - do it! It's hard to entertain a baby for a long time on a plane so anything you can think of that can catch her attention, even for a few minutes, will be SO worthwhile. Good luck!
