Who's That?

It is I, back from a blog sabbatical. There has been so much going on and frankly, haven't felt much like blogging. Here is a little teaser of things to come:

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? Not us, because we are now homeowners, and no, it is not made out of straw.

A snowstorm in March can't even get me down because I am getting the H out of dodge and going to a warmer climate.

Big birthday, big news?

I don't know....

And because I don't like to blog without a picture, here is a gem from a mid-season PCMR ski day:

Circus Circus!

Brett & I love to go to the circus every year. It's so entertaining! Where else can you see death defying stunts performed simultaneously?

And the elephants are so darn cute.

My favorite are the acrobats and the bendy people.
Brett likes the death cage of motorcycles. There were 7 in there, riding around the walls, the ceiling, everywhere.
And little hint for a cheap date night? The first night the circus is in town, all tickets are half price. We go every year.

And here is a little shot from the hike I went on today.

It was gorgeous. I love fall hikes!

Want to play "Where's Waldo?"

Love seeing that sea of Red & White.
The game was awesome.

Lamoreauxs vs. Wild

Brett & his family had a little tradition of backpacking in the High Uintas every year. Brett has been trying to get me to go for awhile, and I finally consented. And really, I was excited. Really.
Brett's pack weighed about 75 lbs, no exaggeration.

Mine--25 lbs. But it makes me look really tough, no?

So apparently, "living off the land" means catching fish and eating them.

I'm not too excited about fish. Luckily for me I brought some nasty processed Cup O Noodles.

I made this fire. Not to brag or anything, but I didn't have lighter fluid OR paper, and I still started it. By myself. I could totally survive in the wild. For 2 days anyway.

It was beautiful. Cold, unsanitary, but beautiful.

We fished, slept, fished, slept....if you like that sort of thing, you should go.

At least we know we won't starve.

Also, Brett does all the cooking Mountain Man Style, and I don't have to do anything. Maybe we should go rogue and live in the mountains?

Saying goodbye...alas, I did not want to stick out another night. So Brett & Todd stayed, and I left with Scott & Elyse. Notice Brett's groovy beard. My legs were just as hairy.

Did I love it? Will I do it again? Give me a year to think about it and I'll get back to you.

Anyone need a good book?

This one is excellent. And even better, it is a trilogy, which means THREE good books.
I read it in two days. I haven't done that in years.
And I just preordered the trilogy on Amazon, and since I get most of my books from the library, it says a lot that I will drop the $$.
Anyone read it?

Happy Commemoration of our Joint Venture into Eternity

We had our first date four years ago today in Eutin? You remember the opera, and the lake? Remember feeding the ducks? You made sure to show me your "kissing mix" on your ipod and I made sure to bat my eyes and smile a lot.

Remember when you said (not knowing you had the gift of prophesy) that you would marry a girl after a year of meeting her. And remember how exactly one year from that date, we were married for time & eternity in the Salt Lake Temple?

We've definitely had our share of adventures in our 3 years of marriage.

Here are some of my favorites:

1. Camping in American Fork canyon, in October, when you forgot our tent and our makeshift tarp covering in the back of the truck did not suffice against the pouring rain and hail that we endured through the night.

2. Getting yelled at by my German host family when you came over to hang out and they thought I brought you over to, ahem, "do it", and the Molly Mormon side of me was mortified that anyone would possibly think that we would...well you know.

3. Discovering we had the same birthday and realizing that it was probably not only fate, but also Saturday's Warrior-esque that we were probably beamed down at the same time to be together from heaven. Glad there wasn't a mistake and we weren't accidentally sent to the same womb.

4. What about when we tried to climb the face of Grandeur peak after work and didn't realize how long it would take. Sure, the sunset was beautiful from the top, but it was definitely hard to climb down in the dark without a flashlight.

5. Remember when we almost missed our flight home from London? It was Sunday, the one day the tube opened an hour later, so we had to take a bus that we weren't familiar with. Then we had a hard time buying tickets. Then, we finally get on the train to Heathrow, and we get off at the wrong terminal, which you wouldn't think would be a big deal, but it was about 20 minutes past the terminal we were supposed to get off and we had to wait another 20 minutes for the next train, and remember I said a prayer and miraculously our flight was delayed an hour and a half or we would never have made it since we didn't even get to the airport until after our plane would have initially left? And on that same trip when we almost missed our flight to Edinburgh?

6. And remember when we went 140 mph on the Autobahn in Germany, and you waitied until I was asleep because I had forbidden you to do it and then you bragged about breaking your personal speed record and then I got mad and then you shut up once you realized how expensive gas is over there and how many $$ you burned on your little stunt?

There are so many amazing adventures we've had together....here's to, oh, at least another 3 years. Mich liebst du!

Pioneer Day Excitement

The Days of '47 epic weekend started with a rodeo. I haven't been to a rodeo since I was probably 5 years old, and really didn't know what to expect. But angry bulls running at people? Pure scary excitement.

Look at the height on this guy. People do this for fun? Who thought of riding a bucking animal in the first place? Definitely not a woman, I can tell you that.

So in remembrance of Pioneer Day, we decided to recreate Pioneer times and live outside without any amenities...well not really, but we definitely "roughed it" over the weekend. We hiked up into the Uintahs and camped at Echo Lake. In a tent. Without facilities, if you catch my drift. And I'm not much of a pee-in-the-woods kind of girl, but dehydrating myself didn't seem to work. TMI. Sorry.

Brett was in his element. He's such a cowboy-redneck at heart.

It was truly beautiful and remote.

Scott & Elyse even went swimming. In a high mountain lake. COLD. CRAZY.
I'm not wearing my sweatshirt for protection from the cold. I'm wearing it for protection from the 10 billion mosquitoes that also seem to love the scenery.

We hiked up to a lake that was even more remote than the one we were camped at. I really felt like we were the only people around...it was kind of scary/liberating.

Scott caught a mystery fish. Really pretty though, no?

Sunset. It seems tranquil, but that is only because the mosquitoes are too small to capture on camera.
All in all, it was a lot of fun, but we were glad to come home. We ate at Chick's in Heber with the Lam Fam which is a 24th of July family tradition and then slept away the afternoon until we went to fireworks.

They look so pretty, right? We went to Liberty Park with Scott and Elyse. We totally talked up how amazing the fireworks were when you were close enough to see the ground show and set up really close to the field where they set the fireworks off. Well, about halfway through the show there was some sort of explosion and one of the trailers that held the fireworks TIPPED OVER and started shooting fireworks right at us! I saw one lady get hit and I remember thinking that is so close, and then it was like a war zone with fireworks exploding all around us. We grabbed our chairs and ran! It was so scary!! What a way to end the weekend!

And can I just give props to myself for posting 3 in a row? I better get some comments for all this hard work. ;)
