I think it may be easier to just post an annual highlight post and not
have to worry about it the rest of the year? I don't think Adelyn grows
that much, do you?
It's really hard to look back at a year and try to pick the best things. I could probably write an entire post on any of these, but I'll try to keep it brief. Maybe I'll go into more details in a separate post. I want to remember everything, since I'm terrible at keeping journals. Oh, and sorry for the picture overload.
Adelyn's blessing last January. |
My first 5K. I finished just over 30 minutes. It was called the "Cookie Chaser" and sponsored by the girl scouts, so you would think maybe some delicious Thin Mints or Samoas at the finish line, but no, they had regular store bought cookies, and I don't even think they were chocolate chip. Needless to say, I wish I would have walked. Kidding, it was fun. My goal this year is to do a half marathon.
My first Mother's Day. Lucky me, I got to spend it in Hawaii. Brett lei'd me.
Here is a picture of us on a hike we did whilst in the Aloha State. It was to a waterfall, but as you can see in the picture at this time was merely a trickle. Still very beautiful. By the way, Brett's sister Lindsay came with us on this trip to help with Adelyn. I don't think we will be able to travel without her in the future. I totally understand why rich people have nannies. It was great. Plus, I didn't have to work up the courage to ask people to take our picture because she was nanny and photographer.
The 4th of July was spent in the burned out state of Colorado. All fireworks shows were cancelled (my favorite part of the 4th minus the incident where I almost lost my life)
However, having the awesome luck I have, the only fireworks show in the entire state that was not cancelled just happened to be where we were staying. So all was right with the world.
Boating was awesome fun this year. Adelyn
We went to Bear Lake with my fam during Raspberry Days which was awesome. I'm pretty sure I overdosed on Raspberry milkshakes, but yes, it was worth it. I also ran walked the Raspberry Days 5K (injury, remember?) and got my worst time ever of 60 minutes. To be fair, I was also trying to keep a 3 year old from running into people's yards. But again, the sweet t-shirt and raspberry ice cream at the finish line was worth the $25 entrance fee. Wait, you say I don't need another t-shirt I won't ever wear and that just buying ice cream is cheaper?
In October, Brett had a business trip to Washington D.C. and Adelyn and I tagged along. I've always wanted to go, but when I plan a vacation it was not the top of my list. But it should be! This was one of the most amazing places we've been! Great for families. I actually can't wait until our kids are older and we can go back. Everything is free and if you like history (raise your hand) it's just really cool to see some of the beginnings of our country.
Adelyn turned a year! She started walking a few weeks before her birthday and hasn't stopped moving since! She is sooooo busy, but I love it. It was fun to plan her first birthday party, but actually kind of stressful. I didn't realize how much goes into a party and it didn't help going on a last minute vacation to Washington D.C. two weeks before her birthday.
And I will leave you with a cute picture of Bean in her halloween costume. She was a cute little witch. And sorry I don't have any Christmas pictures on this post. Look for it on the highlight post for 2013 Haha.
